A great word

Hagioscope which, according to wikipedia, means: an opening through the wall of a church in an oblique direction, to enable the worshippers in the transepts or other parts of the church, from which the altar was not visible, to see the elevation of the Host. It also appears to be the name of someone’s blog. [...]

Winners!

My word, what an action-packed final it was! At the end of an incredibly tense slam, Omar Musa (last year’s ACT winner, and grand final runner up) and David Finnigan (whose extreme creativity constantly blows me away) drew for first place and then, after each poet performed a second piece, drew for a second time. Halloween slam lowdown…

Friday night’s Halloween slam was great fun (although a little on the quiet side – to be expected with Stonefest, Reclaim the Night and a bunch of other events on at the same time)…  Nevertheless ’twas lovely to see all of the kids (and big kids) dressed up, getting into the spookiness of the day. [...]
